Sandra, Sandra, Sandra.
Where do I start? This girl is a firecracker. She is full of energy all the time. She has gotten me to work out with her several times and asks me to run with her often. Sandra is fiercely independent. Once she makes up her mind to do something she will make it happen. She loves talking about anything and everything and is incredibly generous with all she has.
Both of Sandra’s parents died when she was very young and so she moved in with her grandparents. But neither of them were very mobile and could not keep up with a wild little girl so she spent most of the time out on the street playing. At the age of 7/8 she caught the eye of a gang member. Thankfully a neighbor called the authorities on Sandra’s behalf warning that she either already had been raped or it was going to happen soon. She was then placed in a government orphanage for a couple of years until Bob and the Mi Casa family found her!
Sandra is a fighter and is incredibly strong. She takes her life into her own hands. I have had an absolute blast getting to know her and hang out with this beautiful girl!
Mi Casa excels in providing each and every child with the specific opportunities and environments that they need to be successful. Because Sandra is still a typical 15 year old who gets very distracted by boys, she is now going to an all girls school so she can focus on her studies.
Please pray about supporting Sandra so she can stay at this school where she can start building her future. As I mentioned in my previous blog her other alternative is to go to a public school where she could be raped at any time. The faculty do take action to stop this for fear of their own lives. Sandra is an very smart girl and there is no doubt in my mind that she has a bright future ahead of her she just needs a little support to get there!
