I have been in Israel for about a week now.

First of all…Israel is amazing. The weather is really warm and there are palm trees everywhere, where there isn’t desert. There are lots of cats roaming the streets and it is common to see camel crossing signs on the road. And falafel is one of the most amazing things I have eaten on the race.

Driving home from the airport in a coach bus we hit (more like destroyed) a donkey (and I saw everything…)

I saw camels being herded through the desert mountains by three little shepherd boys on donkeys.

I met an amazing woman and her son in a grocery store, who insisted on helping me find what I needed in the store and then invited us to get the “best falafel in the world” with her, which she drove me to and bought for me…

Toured Jerusalem…went to the Wailing Wall, Garden of Gethsemane, City of David.

Saw the Jordan river, the Sea of Galilee, Jesus’ tomb, Capernaum, Nazareth…walked streets Jesus walked.

Ate Shabbat meal with a Jewish family…

For the next two weeks I am working with a single mother of 5 young children, one of whom is disabled, helping her out around the house, helping home school her children and just spending time pressing in and building relationship.

Then the last two weeks we will be teaching English to refugees.

I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas Season!!

I love you all!

(Amanda: I hope you had an amazing birthday!!!! I found Duncan’s identical Israeli twin, picture to come at the end of the month!)
