We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip. Here is what I’m expecting…
I expect:
– to be uncomfortable
– to be stretched physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually
– to miss my family and friends A LOT
– to form amazing relationships with my teammates
– to learn from the ones I will serve
– my worldview to be challenged
– to grow closer to God
– to be broken and put back together
– to eat exotic foods
– to not like most of those exotic foods
– to be dirty and sweaty
– to be blown away by God’s creation
– to see amazing things
– to see more heartbreak than my heart can handle
– God to teach my things and open my eyes and heart to see more like Him
– to be frustrated at times
– to experience every emotion imaginable
– to meet amazing people with incredible stories
– to experience God in new ways
– to come back home changed
– my normal to change
– God to rain down over the places we’ll go
…I expect my expectations to be blown away.
I don’t know if I can prepare myself enough for what I will encounter on the World Race. I don’t know who’s paths I will cross or how I will be used, but I DO know that the Lord will be with me wherever I go and that great things will be done in HIS name!
1 Chronicles 16:8-11:
Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known
among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his
wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those
who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face
always.
I pray that throughout this trip I will always seek the face and heart of Jesus.
