I feel like when people ask me about the World Race, I rarely have the chance or time to explain to them in full all of the details. Therefore, I wanted to have a little detail sesh, and share all the facts that I can about the World Race and what exactly it entails. Here we goooo!
The first thing people tend to ask- Is it actually a race? Are you like, actually running?
Nooooo, this is not a race. There are no comptetitors, prizes, or PR's. I will be travelling to 11 countries over 11 months on a mission trip.
Are you going alone?
Let's be real, I use my GPS to get around the city I grew up in and to get to work. LOL. I am on a squad of about 70 people, which will be broken into teams of 7ish people (whom will hopefully not be as directionally challenged as I am).
Oh riiight. Where are you going?
So what exactly will you be doing in all of these places?
When I think about what I will be doing, two words come to mind: serving & loving. Generally, each team has a contact in each country, whom we will be doing ministry through for the month that we spend in that country. Some months may consist of working in orphanages, teaching english, painting/construction, praying for the sick, loving the widows, and sharing Jesus' love with people who don't know about their worth in Him.
Alright, so do they pay for you to go work in these places?
Not exactly, I need to raise $15,500, in addition to supplies and gear, vaccinations, the cost of student loans while I'm gone, and some spending money while I'm there.*
I am still in need of a few things, like an airporter (protective carrier for my pack), an iPad or computer in order to keep everyone here updated while I'm gone, travel insurance, flight costs to our launch location, and my vaccinations.
You said "pack," what will you be bringing with you?
I will be packing a 65L pack, that needs to weigh about 40 pounds or less, and a day pack- like a backpack that I can carry-on with me on flights. A tent (for real). A sleeping pad. Clothes for the year. Various toiletries/necessities.
Holey moley, this is intense! When do you leave?
I have a training camp May 18-25 in Georgia, and then I will launch in the beginning of July- pending that I reach my financial deadline of $6,500.
So, when do you need to have the rest of the money raised?
After launch, I will have 6 months to raise the remaining money- $9,000. It's cool because everyone can see me actually doing all of this stuff I have been talking about, and it becomes very real that the support you provide is doing amazing things, both for the people we're serving, and in our own hearts.
In addition to money, I need support in prayer! While I have been blesssed to be the body that gets to go into the nations, there are so many key factors that go into sending someone on a mission. Finances and prayer are surely principal components in the World Race being a fruitful journey.
Oh! We'll get to see what you're doing while you're away?!
Yep! Click subscribe to sign up to receive a notification when I update my blog with pictures or new blogs 🙂 additionally, you can add me on Facebook, which I'll also update when I am able!
How can we support you?
As I mentioned previously, there are still several things that I am in need of in addition to financial support. If you'd like to join The World Race and support me, you can do so a few different ways:
- Have an extra iPad or computer you don't need? Let meeeee take it off your hands! Donate it to me- it's a tax write off and I have a non-profit tax ID#, or let me know how much you're looking to sell it for 🙂
- Share my World Race information with others! Tell your family, friends, roommates, whoever you feel inclined to tell. Ya never know who will have it on their hearts to support me both through prayer and donations.
- Click here to make a monetary donation online.
- Send any donations directly to me, to help with the cost of vaccinations, any gear/supplies I haven't gotten yet etc.

Who is the trip through?
The World Race is a ministry of Adventures in Mission (AIM), a non-profit organization that aids in getting people of all ages on mission trips of all kinds.
In conclusion, if you'd like to learn more about my decision to go on the Race, or just chat in general about where my life is right now, I'd love to meet, skype, call, text, or email you. Just contact me through any of the various ways listed in this blog, or leave me a comment on here!
Also, I would like to ask you to pray specifically for preparation: for my heart and head to be prepared to leave home and travel for 11 months, to be emotionally ready to learn and grow how God has planned for me, and to be ready to have my heart broken as I encounter people and situations that we don't typically encounter at home.
Thanks for reading!
* To date, there is $4,860.51 in my World Race account, whoa. God has been SO faithful in providing every penny. I honestly am awed everytime I think about much we've raised, it's incredible, and I am beyond words to express my thankfulness!
