We had a bittersweet moment last night
here at Casa Shalom. We had to say goodbye to Marius. He is leaving
today to go to another children’s home across town. It’s hard to see
him go because Marius has been living here at Casa Shalom for eight
years. Since he is only 12 years old, he doesn’t really remember
much of another life before this. Marius was abandoned when he was
an infant and was entrusted to Casa Shalom when he was four years
old. Two years ago Marius’ family was found, but disappointingly his
mother had died two years before and his father did not welcome him
or even want to see him again. It’s hard for me to fathom this
because Marius is a great young man who is always ready and willing
to help others.

Last night we celebrated the servant’s
heart and worshipful spirit that the Lord has given to Marius. We
shared some cake and got to listen to Marius sing one of his favorite
songs to the Lord. Becky and Rodica shared some stories about Marius
and how much they love him and are going to miss him. We prayed over
Marius for protection, guidance and to continue to grow up knowing
and loving the Lord. We prayed against any feelings of abandonment,
inadequacy or guilt. We prophesied over Marius that he will be an
ambassador and leader for Christ wherever he goes and that he will be
one who ushers others to the feet of Jesus. Marius is loved and will
be missed. We’ll miss his smile, his gentle spirit, his energy, his
servant’s heart and the occasional basketball game!

Marius has lived a large part of his
life here at Casa Shalom in search of his family, but discovering
them was disappointing. What Marius did find here was a heavenly
Father who loves him unconditionally and will never leave him or turn
His back on him. Although we are sad to see him go, we rejoice that
God’s hand is leading and guiding his life and He is the one who
makes all things good. How deep the Father’s love truly is for us!
