Finally, I have
been able to reserve a couple hours for myself. Part of my team has
gone to visit a monastery and the others have gone to purchase train
tickets. I’m sitting in my room alone with only my computer, iTunes
and a warm duvet. Sometimes I feel guilty about wanting time for
myself, but it happens very rarely and only if I am intentional about
it. My schedule on the race has not been terribly stressful (I
reserve the right to forget about Kenya!), but time alone has been
hard to come by so today I had the opportunity and I seized it. I
really wanted to visit the monastery, but I also know that I will
spend the next 30 hours on a bus then two trains with my whole team.
I’m learning about myself that as much as I enjoy people and love
being around them, I need some time to think, pray and rest without
any distractions. You reap the benefits of this because I’m writing
a blog instead of out painting the town red.
team and I leave tomorrow to head to Romania. First we will board a
bus here in Soldanest and take the two hour ride to Chisinau. In the
early evening we will board an overnight train for the 12 hour ride
to Bucharest. After a short “layover”
we will board another train to Brasov where we will spend a couple of
days sightseeing. Our ministry for the month will be in Bucharest
with Casa Shalom. If you would like to look up more information
about them, please visit www.casa-shalom-family.org
will be participating with an orphanage/after-school program. Romanian law prevents us from sharing Bible stories with the children, but it can’t prevent us from playing games and loving on children. We will also visit poor villages around Bucharest to evangelize and give out food and clothing. I’m sure that we will have the opportunity to do some good old fashioned manual labor as well. As usual our time in ministry will not go as we plan or expect, but God will surprise us with something better. He always does!
