As of January 22nd I will be returning to China for 4 months to work with the boy’s home I wrote about here last month and teach bible lessons to young Christians! How’s that for straight to the point? Over the last month I’ve been in contact with different people my team and I worked with while we were there last year. Two days ago I received an email saying that, when the new semester starts in February, they would like me to be there to help with the English and bible lessons weekday mornings. The rest of my time I intend on spending doing whatever is needed at the home for runaway and abandoned boys where Jakey lives. I hope to use my knack for seeing a need and finding a way to fill it to get the home connected with resources in both the local and international community. Needless to say, I’m excited!

It’s always wild to me when we get a glimpse ahead of time of what God plans on doing. Even while I was still there last year I
was telling my team that I knew I would be coming back for a 4 to 6 month time period in the next year or so. While I was there I just kept seeing these parallels between the Roman world of Jesus’ day and China now. With nearly 20% of the world’s population living there, if China were to go through a similar change to what the Roman empire did then we wouldn’t recognize this place anymore. To see that…it’s a desire in me that wouldn’t let up while I was there, and kept me thinking for months afterwards. And very unexpectedly, and yet entirely naturally, the chance to go back and do whatever part I have to play in that has come.

So, as you can see, this is VERY soon. Less than 2 weeks away. I just got my plane ticket, am going in to apply for the visa on Monday, am mov
ing today (if the rain will let up for an hour), and still have a lot of goodbyes to take care of (some of which haven’t even gotten hellos since I got back in August). I intend on keeping this blog going (sign up for updates if you aren’t already by clicking ‘Keep up to Date’ on the left), but there are a few security concerns with the internet filtering that the Chinese government does so some details may be intentionally vague. I hope you can forgive me for that and know that there is probably more going on than I can say at times, and pray accordingly. Speaking of prayer, I’m in need of a few people that will dedicate themselves to covering this in prayer during my stay. If you’d like to join me in this way, please let me know. Here’s a few ways to pray now:

1. That my focus will remain on God and what He’s doing, not what just seems like a good thing to do. I can get wrapped up in doing the ‘right’ thing quite easily and miss God’s plan entirely by not stopping to listen.
2. For the boys coming through the home – restitution of families; forgiveness and healing in themselves; and being able to trust the love God, Laura, and the other workers in the home have for each one of them despite having been hurt so profusely.
3. For the boy’s home itself – ongoing provisions; new resources such as dedicated teachers and computers; reliable, long term volunteer staff.
 4. All the details to come together in the next 2 weeks.

Anyone interested in supporting me financially can make donations
directly to Northview Community Church (32040 Downes road, Abbotsford
BC,
V4X 1X5). Just indicate that the donation is for the China Boy’s Home, and DO NOT put my name anywhere on there (the check will have to be returned if it is).
Anything raised beyond my initial expenses will go towards the boy’s
home itself, be it for new blankets, crutches, computers, school
supplies or whatever else is revealed as in need. Thank you, everyone,
for your constant support and encouragement, I look forward to hearing
from all of you as I step, once again, onto the international missions
field!
