“The Lord am I Right?” this is my own little way of saying Hallelujah. Now with only a few more days on the Race Im looking back and seeing all of Gods promises on the race. I want to tell you about my 2 favorite promises the Lord spoke to me that has made me say “The Lord am I right.” time and time again.
Serbia: Im teaching English in Thailand, and we live on campus in a house in the back. As I was walking to the library a strong breeze came and shook the small dying leafs off the trees. I looked up and saw the leaves fall around me and couldn’t help but smile. I couldn’t help but wonder if this is how it felt to stand in a thick snow fall. Then I heard the Lord say, “It will be magnificent Marissa.” and I smiled and started to cry, as per usual. The month after Thailand we went to Serbia. Once we arrived we realized we just missed the snow for the winter. But I stayed confident because the Lord said, “It will be.” As a week or two pasted and the weather got hotter I started to wonder if I was expecting too early and I would experience snow later on in life. I live in an area of Texas that doesn’t snow so I have never really experienced a true snow before.
One night I just got into my bed for the night when my 2 friends from from another team who was also in Novi Sad told me to go outside. I put on my shoes and flannel and walked outside to giant flakes of snow falling. It was one of the most beautiful things Ive ever seen. It snowed for the next 2 days. I would go on walks for hours admiring the snow. I realized why so anythings in the bible was referred to as, “White as snow.” I would also like to think that the Lord made it snow just to see me smile. He’s a good Father like that. It will forever be one of my favorite memories.
Uganda: One day during worship at Ywam before the Race I heard the word, “Uganda” my response was, “Not right now Lord I’m trying to worship you.” I heard Uganda again and again. I finally said, “Okay Lord what about Uganda?” As soon as I finished that thought my friend walked up and ask, “Is there anything I can pray with you about?” I told her, “Yeah, the Lord keeps saying Uganda but what about Uganda.” She replied, “Lets see what the Lord has to say about that.” She put her hand on my shoulder and started listening to the Lord. She started smiling and laughing and said, “The Lord said you’re going to love it there.” 15 months later and the last county on the race I’m here in Uganda and I love it here. This was by far my favorite month out of the race. I loved our ministry, the people we’ve be able to meet, where we stayed, our host, the people we did ministry with, the culture, I loved everything about Uganda.
As the race is finishing up I cant help but be excited about the promises the Lord has already made me and will make me in the future.
Gods promises am I right?
