So I’ve been home for a little over a month now and many people have been wondering what is next for me…
In September I will be heading out onto the mission field again, but this time to Puerto Rico to do a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with Youth With A Mission (YWAM)! Lots of acronyms I know… Many factors went into this decision but ultimately I know that in this season of life the Lord is calling me to better know Him and make Him known! YWAM’s DTS is a program made up of two parts: the first is 3 months of discipleship at one of their bases where you learn deeper about intimacy with the Lord, living in community, how Christianity fits into different cultures, how to better lead in your faith, and volunteer work! The second part is a 2-3 month outreach at a location that is still to be determined for me! By working with YWAM it will open up many doors to furthering education in how to run a ministry/NGO (which is my ultimate goal) and gives me many ways to get connected with organizations/ministries across the globe!
Although they have more glamorous bases throughout the world, my heart really stuck to Puerto Rico. With some of my family still living on the island, Hurricane Maria was a personal hit. The island is still torn to shreds in many ways and needs lots of help. Since last fall when the storm broke through, my mind has been on how I can go and support the people the best I can, and right now this is how God is calling me to serve them.
