HELLO!!
thank you for all of your prayers that have gotten my team and I to HONDURAS!!!! being covered by a community of prayer is so comforting, the Lord continues to bless us!!
ohhh latin america, how i LOVE you!! for about the past week i have called tegucigalpa, honduras my home. and it’s where me and 13 other girls will be until the end of the year.
we stay tucked up in the mountains sureounding the city at a nonprofit school, Loyalty School. for the first month, my team and I are doing “social work” around the schools: hacking at mountain-sides with machetes, digging and leveling to make a play space for the students, and going into the neighborhoods to pray for families.
Loyalty holds a church service on Sunday mornings, and the families we visit typically have a tie to it. usually it’s the children that attend, but the parents are unsure or skeptical of God. our host/school principal/administrator/pastor Roger drives these kids up and down our mountain for school and church (if they make it on time ;-)) believe me, this is no casual stroll. the hike to get up our mountain makes me almost want to become a hermit up here just so i dont have to feel the burn walking back.
many children in Honduras have to do a lot more than we ever have to in the States for the simplest things. walking for miles to praise God in community or for an education. pray for them. pray that in the immense violence of this country, they never let go of the Lord’s hand. pray they hold on tight, especially when they dont have Christian role models in their home.
this month the other team that lives with us is teaching, and next month we switch ministries. the Lord has big things awaiting all 14 of us up on this mountain, i am so pumped to see it all unfold!!!!!!
thank you to everyone that has donated and prayed for my mission so far!! genuinely i cannot believe that this is my life. in order to stay on the field and complete my trip through June, I still need to raise $4,700 by the end of December. please prayerfully consider donating to my funds, so i can continue on living the Lord’s work on The Race!!
