“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.” 2 Chronicles 20:12b

It’s five days until launch. Five days until J and K squads will be headed to Ireland to begin 11 months of intense ministry. And the truth is, we don’t know what to do.  Not only do we not know what awaits us, I can say that at least for me–I don’t feel like the super brave Christian that missionaries are made out to be. As people at my church prayed for me and gave their farewells this last Sunday, MANY complimented me, my faith, my bravery, my selflessness. And all the while I’m thinking, “If they really knew me they wouldn’t be saying all of that!” I have had quite a shaky faith, I’m a coward and I’m so, so selfish. Like, REALLY selfish.

But my eyes are upon God.

I sat alone in an unfamiliar church today, asking God’s spirit to come, and this story was shared. Jehoshaphat’s army was facing an enemy they couldn’t handle. They told God, ‘We do not know what to do.’ And what did God do? He told them, ‘Don’t worry, I got this.’

‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.’ You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’ ”
2 Chronicles 20:15-17.

And he’s telling us the same thing.

Ireland, here we come!
