“Doesn’t your life seem surreal?
One minute you’re in the bush of
Thailand…”
“…the
next you are walking the streets of London.”
– Karen Barnes, our dearest squad Mom/Coach
On December 4th, we were
rerouted to London, England from Bangkok (
due to closed airport/protests), instead of arriving in Swaziland, Africa for the month of December. Our journey transportation consisted of trucks, buses, planes, trains and taxis, not unusual for a World Race travel day.

This is at a Convention Center in Bangkok, where we received our flight information and boarded buses that took us to a military base 3 hours away, where our first flight departed.
After a connection in Abu Dhabi, we arrived in England and waited for another bus…
…that took us to a train, which brought us to Harpenden, where we
jumped in taxis to arrive at our final destination
– the infamous YWAM (Youth With A Mission), pictured below.
From Dec. 5-8th, we stayed at the YWAM base in Harpenden, a town just outside of London. We were greeted with many warm welcomes of smiles and laughter along with good food, hot showers and even our very own room. Without any scheduled ministry in Harpenden, we were able to treat the time there as a mini debrief – enjoying the
grounds, local trails and shopping in St. Albans.
Our journey towards downtown Harpenden.
A trail to lead the way…
Then we cruise through the back neighborhoods…
A tunnel leading into town…
Downtown Harpenden
Next, we will head into downtown London for our planned ministry for the month. Check out blogs to come for more details.
