My name is Marissa (or Mari, Rissa, Ris, Moe, any other nickname you can come up with really). I have been putting this off, not because I don’t have anything to say but because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to say it all and for this first blog entry I am choosing the easy way out. I figure I’ll get better at this along the way. So here are some quick, bullet style facts about me!
- I’m 18 years old
- Born and raised in Peachtree City, Georgia (It’s a planned community, pretty small town-ish)
- I have 4 brothers and a sister
- I’m a pescetarian (no land animals for me!)
- I love tea
- I was raised Lutheran but my step mother is a Methodist minister ( shout out to all the PKs!) As far as denomination is concerned I feel most at home in the Lutheran church, however, my faith and my beliefs are truly my own and cannot be defined by anything other than Christian.
- My hobbies include:
- Music making (I sing and play piano)
- Knitting/crocheting
- Netflix (let’s be real…)
- People watching
- Hiking
- Zumba
- Yoga
- Theatre (Honor Thespian! Holla!)
- Cooking/baking/messing up the kitchen
- I’m really sentimental and a bit of a packrat.
- I enjoy being the Go-To Girl
- I’m a bit of a dare devil and don’t have many fears (God’s got my back)
- I’ve taken four years of french so.. Si vous parlez francais, nous nous pouvons parler pour pratiquer la langue pendant le voyage!
I’m sure there is more to say here but I’m forgetful and we will all get to know each other better very soon! I am so excited to hopefully be a part of D squad (I’m on the wait list so we shall see). Really I’m just a big extroverted weirdo who loves the Lord and all of his creations, although I could do without mosquitoes.. I will talk more about my call to the world race in my next blog because that is obviously super important. I am so excited for this journey with my squad and my Lord!
