Hard for me to believe that it is already December and I’m going into my seventh month of the World Race. Thanksgiving in Africa was a blessed experience for my team and me as we were away from the rest of our June squad. We missed our families dearly as we prepared a family meal of turkey sandwiches, mashed potatoes, green beans and banana bread. Kelly put together a “thankful tree” for us. We put up traces of our hands decorated with the many things we were thankful for. J I hope that your Thanksgiving Day with your loved ones was such a special time! Many, many, many thanks went up for you, my family, friends, prayer and financial supporters.
Thanks to everyone in this letter, at least $12,390 has been given so far so that I could be on this amazing trip. This means that I lack only $1,410 to complete the rest of this trip with the rest of my squad. In this season of cheerful giving, I ask that if you or any of your friends have it in their hearts to give a one-time special gift, this would be most appreciated! This Christmas I would have loved to be there and give you a tearful hug in thanks for such a gift. I have no idea where I’ll be on Christmas Day, but you can be sure I’ll be on my knees praying for you and yours, celebrating family and love with you in spirit.
Many on the squad have brought up concerns that the holidays will be rough for them. Being in the summer heat of Africa instead of the western culture of Christmas trees and caroling, my team and I will be missing the comfort of the States. Please remember us and ask God to comfort all of His children who are homesick and finding it hard to be on the other side of the world.
For three weeks now, team Bamboo Brigade has been solo in Boane, Mozambique working at an Iris Ministries’ base. Together we’ve been serving our contact, Don Foster through fellowship, distributing mosquito nets (we’re are in a dense malaria zone), showing the Jesus Film in rural villages, planting trees and various other projects here at the base. I’ve really enjoyed this time of undisturbed bonding time with my team. We’ve pushed through the half-way mark of our journey and we’re anticipating so much more in our last few months of the World Race.
Beginning Sunday, my team and I will begin travelling for 5 days, regrouping with the rest of the squad, and then we’re off to our next ministry site in Malawi! Travelling through different countries can be an exhausting experience, but I’m excited about seeing the rest of the squad and sharing the gospel of Christ in another country. God is so good and is worthy to be praised amongst all tribes, tongues and nations, Amen! Please continue to pray for travel safety and good health/healing for our group. Again, thank you for all of your support these past 7 months and a special thanks to those who can help with the final push of support raising during the holidays! God bless you. J
Merry Christmas to you and yours,
