These past two weeks have been a blessing. I’ve had the chance to talk to many people one-on-one about the World Race and getting to answer a lot of their questions. This whole pre-Launch process is humbling and it’s been full of surprises. (I still have 6 weeks to go haha).
Many of you want the update on support raising so here we go! 🙂
I do need to stress the most important thing first…I’m going to be coming across a lot of different cultures one right after another. I’m going to be beginning and buiding relationships. I’m going to have conflict with my teammates & squadmates. I’m going to get homesick. I’m going to be continually working out my faith and leaning in close to God in these whirlwind of an 11 months beginning in June. Your prayers and messages of encouragement on this blog are going to be a big part of what keeps me going. It’s already hitting me that I’m going to miss out on some fun times with friends and family and co-workers. Things are going to change and that’s hard to face sometimes. This year won’t be a worry-free vacation. I need warriors like you to pray for protection, guarding my heart and mind, to maintain healthy habits, to open up my heart over and over again. The financial part of this support update is secondary to prayer and encouragement while I’m away from family. Today I am getting cards made so that you can have a photo reminder to hang on your fridge or put on your desk at work or wherever. I would really appreciate it if you just said a quick prayer on my behalf to God for whatever is on your mind. God answers the prayers of His children and don’t be surprised if one day there’s a blog about it! 😉
Just to put some minds at ease…here’s the financial breakdown/update:
Total cost of trip= $13,800
Goals: 60% in account by Launch June 1st= $8,280
100% in account by November= $5,520
As of today, April 21, 2009 I have received $4,193!!
So far I have been promised to receive another $1,650 by mid-May. That means I have LESS THAN $2500 to go to reach the 60% goal by Launch, whoo hoo!! Another breakdown is that if 25 people can commit to donating $50 in April and another $50 in May the 60% goal will be reached! Let’s pray in those 25 people who are going to help to make this race possible. No gift is too small…it’s coming from your heart and there’s no “little” in that action.
At least $2700 has been promised/pledged from June through November. After Launch in June I will still need to receive just $2,820 more. How sweet is that?! (You’re already a blessing in all of this. THANK YOU!!!!)
I do have a fundraiser coming up…this Saturday, April 25th, 2009 I will be having a garage sale at my house to sell pretty much everything I’ve got: furniture, appliances, electronics, home decor, clothing & shoes, lots of DVDs, CDs, books. People have already begun donating items to help me raise more funds at the sale. If you’re in Lubbock please drop by. I’ll be having a bulletin board up showing the race route and I’ll be sharing info about Team NEON, the squad, AIM and this adventure in missions! (Thanks to my friends for helping me get ready and working with me on Saturday!)
