Puerto Barrios, Guatemala
Tears of thankfulness sprang to my eyes this morning as I sat watching steam rise from my coffee cup, my bare toes running through the carpet beneath my feet, the smell of French toast and freshly made blueberry syrup wafting from the kitchen, and Rend Collective serenading the entire scene.
And then I remembered a moment a couple weeks ago….those same tears of thankfulness as I sat on the most uncomfortable wooden love seat that ever was, sipping out of a coffee cup that was entirely too small, nibbling on arroz con leche that had somehow gotten a small mountain of cinnamon in it, and listening to all the roosters of Guatemala trying to make their presence known while laughter erupted from the stories my team was sharing with each other.
Fresh tears fell from my eyes with that thought. It doesn’t matter where I am…my God has taught me to live in a spirit of thankfulness because I asked him to. What joy is in this place of thankfulness!
May you be blessed with a spirit of gratitude today.
