Playing legos
Rules little kids make up when playing games
Reading goodnight bible stories to three precious children
Being read to by a 5 year old
Having little bodies run and jump onto my back or lap
Hearing the squeaky little voice of a 3 year old explain a story to me
Playing a matching game with a genius 6 year old
Being told what my toy is supposed to do or say next
Hearing little giggles as I tickle bellies
Watching little girls pretend to be princesses
Two little girls fighting over who gets to sit by me.
Little hands playing with mine as I read a story to the child sitting on my lap
Watching a 5 year old get excited because I am letting her give me math problems
Hearing the most precious prayers come out of the mouths of three wonderful children.
No, I am not nannying again, this is my ministry. I’ve been the concrete pourer, the gardener, the children’s program leader, the English teacher, the preschool’s assistant, and the village to village missionary, but this month I get to serve the servants.
Besides making friends in this beautiful town in the region of Tibet, my ministry this month is to help home school and take care of the children of a young and wonderful missionary couple. As eternal as it seems at times, this adventure of mine is only 11 months, but their hope is to stay here and minster in China forever. So no, this month will not be defined by missionary skirts (you know the skirt you see every missionary in while they are preaching to unreached people) and preaching in villages, but I have the privilege of serving the servants who are making a difference in China…and I love it.
