What is the World Race?
As stated by the World Race homepage: “The World Race is a stretching journey into 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. This unique mission trip is a challenging adventure for young adults to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle in exchange for an understanding that it’s not about you; it’s about the Kingdom.”
Where will you be serving?
My squad’s route consists of spending one month in each of the following countries; India, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru.
What will you be doing in each country?
“Racers connect with local churches and organizations, serving them to meet the unique needs of the community while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. From preaching in churches in India to loving kids in orphanages in Swaziland, from building homes in Guatemala to ministering to sex trafficking victims in Thailand, Racers serve in different ways each month.”
When does it all begin?
Our launch date is in October. There is so much to do before then; buy gear (tent, backpack, sleeping bag, mosquito net…), take passport pictures, buy plane ticket to and from training camp, get vaccinations, fundraise, etc.
How much does it cost to participate?
$16,961 which covers all costs once the trip begins; food, lodging, insurance and traveling expenses. The World Race requires only a portion of the money to be raised before I leave, but I am hoping with your support that I can be fully funded before I leave in October.
