Jamaica. Living on the tile floor of the church. Evangelizing to people in the community while they’re smoking weed. Tutoring kids after school. Putting on an event to feed hungry children. This is missions.

Or is it?

You see, the World Race isn’t just this 11 month mission trip and then it’s back to normal life. This IS life and it’s training us to live our lives on mission. Is my life going to look the same at home as it does on the race? No, I’ll definitely sleep in my bed when I can and savor being able to drive my car and be alone in my room. BUT, I do pray that I have the same mindset when I get home, and that is to do everything on mission for the Lord, to be interruptible when the Lord sends someone my way, and to be willing to serve others even when it’s in ways that are not my favorite things to do.

There is more to our everyday lives than most people in the world, and especially America, understand. We are not just on this Earth to live however we want and go through our lives not making much of a splash. We are here to proclaim that Jesus is Lord and that He is the only way! We are called to make giant tidal waves for Jesus!

If that means you’re called to live a traveling missionary life, then do it! But more often than not, we aren’t called to that. We are called to live ON mission in our normal, everyday lives. Your ‘mission field’ is your office, the place you eat lunch at 3 times a week, the coffee shop you stop at every morning, your hair salon, the place you get your nails done, the Target you shop at 5 times a week, the golf course you frequent on weekends. Your mission field is your life. Everywhere you go, you bring Jesus with you.

Don’t slip into the mindset of the ‘daily grind’. Each and every day is either a day that you’re advancing the Kingdom of God, or one that you’re allowing the Enemy to keep you stuck in complacency. When you wake up every day, ask the Lord what He wants you to do that day. Ask Him to give you opportunities to share your faith. Ask Him to show you someone to love on or be generous with.

Ask the Lord what He wants you to do every day and watch as He transforms your life and the lives of those around you.

So, don’t go on a missions trip, live your life on mission, no matter where that might be.

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. -1 Corinthians 10:31
