The day after I posted my last blog, we went to the prison to do ministry for the first time. Two of my squadmates, Josh and Morgan, gave their testimonies. Then I sang two songs with Colt, Hector, and Naomi. After that, Andrew and Braham each gave a word. It was a really powerful morning and you could tell the Lord was working there. After everyone was finished sharing, we asked if anyone wanted prayer, and a bunch of people came up. I got to pray for two men that day. The first man I prayed over in English and I didn’t have a translator, so it was hard to communicate with him. As for the man I prayed with second, we had a translator.

Andrew, one of my squad leaders, and I went up to him to pray. Andrew asked him 2 or 3 times what his name was before the translator walked up. The man didn’t know what he was saying. Once the translator was there, he spoke with the man and told us that he had a hearing problem. We asked if we could pray with him and he said yes, so I prayed healing over him and then we asked how his hearing was. He said it was a little better, so we asked if we could pray for him again. He agreed and Andrew began to pray for him. Two of my other squadmates, Josh Pence and Dylan, came up and began praying with us as well during this.

We finished praying and asked again how his hearing was and he said it was much clearer! Praise God! I asked the translator to ask the man if he had a relationship with Jesus Christ. The man said he knew about Jesus from Christmas. The translator spoke with him for a little bit and told us that we could lead him in a prayer of salvation! I prayed and had the man repeat after me. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior!

I’m a feeler in my Myers-Briggs, which should come as no shock to most of you! Because of this, I was expecting this amazing feeling to come over me and the man and everyone around us as we were praying. To be completely honest, that’s not what happened. The man thanked us and barely even smiled. In my head I was thinking, “you were just healed and accepted Jesus Christ into your life, you should be jumping up and down!” But that’s just not the reality of what happened.

But that DOES NOT make it any less real.

I have been learning that sometimes, we have to speak truth into our feelings and emotions until they line up with the truth. Just because that man wasn’t jumping up and down doesn’t mean the Lord didn’t heal him. It doesn’t mean that his salvation wasn’t real. He accepted our Lord Jesus Christ and he was healed! We have gained a new brother in Christ, and that is cause for celebration! Even if that feeling didn’t come in that moment, doesn’t make it any less true.

Since our time here in Lesotho began, we have had the amazing privilege to see over 100 people become our new brothers and sisters in Christ, and dozens of people be healed! That is amazing to me! I say this not to brag about our teams, but to show you that the power of our Lord Jesus Christ is alive and working here. We are merely people who chose to follow the Lord’s call to come here. God could do this without all of us, but He has given us the privilege of working alongside our brothers and sisters here to advance His Kingdom.

I am humbled by the Lord calling me here, and sometimes, I lose sight of why I’m here. Sometimes I think that I have no business being here, but I know that isn’t true. The Lord is growing me so much and He is allowing me to be a part of something amazing. My prayer is that you would know that you are a part of something right where God has placed your feet. Be present in the moment and the place that you’re in and do the work for the Kingdom that God is calling you to do!
