I have been putting this blog off for a few days now and as I started to write it, I realized that there are too many things to put in just one blog. I don’t know how many blogs I will write about training camp, but here’s the first one!

As some of you know, I got back from training camp on the 18th and went straight to my best friend Kelly’s wedding. I am so thankful that I was able to stand next to her on her big day and witness her promise to love her husband forever (who also happens to be one of my friends from high school).

That being said, it was really hard for me to transition from training camp to her wedding in such a short amount of time. I had to shut off the part of me that was thinking about training camp so I could be fully present at her wedding and I am so glad that I did. The day was so beautiful and will forever be one of my favorite memories with Kelly. Having to transition so quickly that day though, taught me a valuable lesson. As I am home now in this 6 week waiting period before I leave on the World Race, I have to be present.

I had such an amazing time at training camp getting to meet all of my squamates and getting to know them and I cannot wait to share God’s love with my fabulous team! Even so, I have wonderful friends here at home too. My friends here have walked with me through some of the hardest things in my life and I have walked with them through some of the hardest things in theirs. It would be so unfortunate if I spent these last few weeks that I have left at home only looking ahead at what is to come on my World Race journey.

I am so excited for what is to come, but that doesn’t make what is here any less exciting or any less important. We are called to be present exactly where we are, and right now, I am at home. I plan to make the most of every moment I have left with my friends before I leave and I plan to grow deeper with the Lord so I can be in tune to what He is saying to me.

Therefore do no be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” – Matthew 6:31-34

The Lord tells us to be present in the moment that we are in. What if you’re looking ahead to something in the future and you miss that co-worker who needs to hear about Jesus or the little kid in your class who needs to know love. There are so many opportunities in the day to show the Lord’s love without every saying his name. Be the love of Christ right where you are, and worry about the next day when it comes.
