1.Where did you see God join you the most?
A. This is a hard one- umm.. Definitely through different ministries- being in the prisons, creating a Christmas program in Malaysia, and also doing ATL (ask the Lord) in Zambia. I would honestly say though, preaching in a Zambian church one Sunday morning- God showed up and blew my mind with his love and encouragement for that congregation.

2.Think of all the things you wish did not happen, what would you keep?
A. Seeing Tip, a bar worker in Chaing Mai, Thailand sell herself to men. God showed me his heart in this situation, and gave me a bigger heart for the Johns that wanted to buy her for sex.

3.If you look back, in what way did you expect God to change you and He didn’t?
A. I expected God to change my personality. To make me more “Christian.” That my desires for old testimate readings would increase, or I would want to become my righteous. While these things HAVE strengthened, what God has taught me through that is that my personality is exactly how God loves me best- I wasn’t created to mimic anyone else besides the Lord. I do become more righteous, but what I was wanting was black and white and acts based- not heart based.

4.Where did you see God make the biggest impression through you?
A. I think he made the biggest impression through me when it came to loving people. God has given me the passion to see people as he sees them, not as the world does. The way I love people is very relationally and very quality time oriented and many people on my team were able to grasp the Lords love through that. It then transferred over to them and they saw God in a different light because of that.

5. What was your favorite cultural food that you tried?

A. Cow soy? Wrong spelling I’m sure, but it was a spicy soup type meal in Thailand that had such good flavor!!

6. What was your favorite adventure?

A. My team and I had gotten a tip to visit this really boogie hotel, but we had to look as if we were guests… so we dressed up all fancy, snuck into this hotel and wanted to sneak into the Zambia side of Victoria Falls. We were asked several times if we needed help finding anything and we said no, and not long after we roamed around we had seen three Zebras about fifteen feet away from us- we took selfies with them 🙂

7. Funny cultural experience

A. Learning how to use a squatty pottiy for the first time… Sorry Em and Chantha! Needless to say– I cannot aim! :/

8. Best ministry?

A. For me it’s prison ministry, followed up by a close second of doing the soup kitchen/ organizing clothes for a thrift store

9. Do you really think you were able to make an impact in any certain country beings you were only there for three-four weeks?

A. Absolutel! I say that because I’ve seen it! The attitude you bring anywhere can make a HUGE difference and that in and of itself impacts the community/culture that you’re in! As far as ministry goes- some was better than others, but I’d still say yes!

10. When/if at all did culture shock happen?

A. The moment we stepped out of the Cambodian airport- the humidity and weather and sounds and smells were so different! (Month 1), otherwise month 8- ukraine– everything was in Ukrainian/Russian and it was very challenging to speak to anyone who was t from our team.

11. What advice if any would you give to a future racer

A. Get out of your comfort zone- the most incredibel things happened when I chose to say yes and do the crazy awkward moments. Challenge yourself in that and just go for it. Don’t be afraid to look like a fool- God uses that for his GOOD TOO! 🙂
