yMy heart is in Zimbabwe. I love the culture, the atmosphere, the people, and their overall perspective on life. I want to experience and see more of how you’ve captivated the hearts of those who live here and are willing to be bold in their culture and bring others into that. It’s not just a show to speak the NDebele language- it’s actually quite beautiful and I’m in love with it and them!
Psalm 119:76~ May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.
Here’s a journal that I wrote today:
“As I look out onto the Gorge, at Lookout Cafe’, I see two paths- like in Pocahontas. It’s a fluid movement forward in the Zambezi river regardless of the path that you take. One path I can see clearly and the other is unknown to me. I want to go slowly down the one path so that I can see everything in it’s beauty, but then I also want to go down the other to see what that’s like also. The mystery of it is so intriguing to me!
It may be bumpy, it may be complicated, but I feel as if the journey is worth it. I want to persevere in both directions. God, I want to bring kingdom, I want to go hard for you. I want to see your beauty even despite a rocky path. Your Son will guide me, God, and I know that full well. I trust in the path that you have for me, daddy. You are my refuge and if that I will take hold of you.”
Psalm 91:15,16~ “He will call on me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
I wrote this to say that oddly enough for me, my heart is in Africa. I don’t know how I’ll feel about Zambia or Malawi, but at this time I’m in love with the people and culture of Zim. I’m praying that I get to experience God in a whole new way within this next month with a combined team.
Speaking of which- next month I will be living in Livingstone, Zambia. My “new” team consists of: Laura, Emily, Bliz, Kayla, Erinn, and myself. It’s manistry month next month (all 10 of the guys in the squad will work together in one team and do discipleship). My “new” team of us ladies will be doing ATL (ask the Lord). We don’t have a host (as of yet). We don’t have a ministry (as of yet). But we ask God to show up and be fervent in prayer on how He wants our days to go.
Please be in prayer that we come together in unity for our time, as well as being disciplined enough to tune into His voice to hear him clearly.
I also wanted to let you guys know where I’m at with fundraising– I’ve been given grace as I still have a little over $2,000 left to raise. If you would like to see me continue on the race, with my team, and have the means to support me financially, it would be much appreciated!! I love you all and thanks for your prayers and your support.
News from my last blog post on the blind woman– we are raising $800 to build her a new home- if you want to be a part of that process- let me know! 🙂
Love, Mariah
