God has been identifying in me what being the feet of Jesus looks like. My first week in and we have trekked the foothills of the Himalayas among the Chepang villages; this was no hike at Pinnacles, in Berea!
I sweat more than I would have helping my dad bale hay on the most humid day in August. I had an odor that I could not even begin to explain to you. Even though there were uncomfortable moments I was able to find joy and excitement breaking through each of them to break and rebuild my foundation to have an expectant heart seeking God in each moment.
As we trekked from the valleys; where there is life and energy from the rivers and waterfalls it was difficult to ascend to the mountain tops where water was scarce and the path wasn’t always clear.

Fear crept in to “what if we fall?!” The pastors followed us and carried our packs when we needed help. The village ministers and people were so gracious and giving to us. We did nothing and yet they welcomed us in their churches, homes, and villages feeding us, worshipping with us, and just sharing life with one another. The Chepang people were the complete definition of Christ’s love for us! I have been in complete awe of how much they have been able to give. I expected to serve them and love them but they completely turned it around us!

One of the last villages we stayed at we were able to be a part of ministering to a witch doctor in one of the cave areas we stayed at.
One of the any witch doctors still living in the mountains and it’s caves. His family are believers in Christ, even his wife. He was asked to play a little bit of his drum so we could see his talents, but instead he started calling out to the demons! Midway through he started shaking his drum he got so frustrated. The demon spirits were being summoned but could not come to where we were because of the force the Holy Spirit had with us! Afterwards he agreed to let us pray for him afterward.

God showed up and met each of us in some pretty powerful and embracing ways. We were encompassed by His protection, His love, and His generosity! If this all happened in just one week, I’m excited to see what more is to come!!
