Selfless love. This is what comes in to my mind and my heart when I think of going on this adventure with my creator, with myself, and with all of the wonderful people that I will be encountering on this trip. It is one of the most simple, yet absolutely life altering and shaking things that a person can do.
This last weekend, I went to a music festival called Paradiso, and volunteered for the “Conscious Crew”! It’s a group of people who love dance music, and who love to help people, and be of service while getting to experience the beautiful Washington gorge and music that makes you feel like you’re flying. We made sure that everyone was safe, taken care of physically and mentally, and getting the most out of their time. Granted this festival may not be something that your typical Christian would be expected to be at, due to the fact that, like the world we live in there are a lot of things that taint it. However, the one thing that I felt and experienced this weekend aside from really great music, was the ability to express SELFLESS LOVE.
It becomes more and more apparent to me, as the days go on in my life that what absolutely gives me energy and fuels my soul is to be able to help someone to feel like they are seen, heard, and understood. It’s to give someone a tight squeeze of a bear hug, pressing kindness into them. It’s giving high fives, and helping someone to stay cool in the sweltering heat of the summer sun. Watching people unite and hold hands, while swaying to music that lifts their spirits with big ole cheesy grins on their faces, or just simply sitting down with someone overwhelmed with emotion to help them not feel so alone. This is what this world needs more of, people taking the time to unite with one another, and to display the love that Christ has put in all of us! It’s times like these, that reassure in my heart that I am the light of this world, and that my purpose here on this earth is to shed and bear light in ALL places.
I believe there are to many people who hide themselves away, thinking that they can’t be around certain things, or only have to isolate themselves to the comfort zones that they know. But I don’t believe that’s what God has called us to do. I believe he has called us to something greater, to reach out to ALL ENDS of the world and to LOVE. It makes me so happy, because it’s the simplicity of that word that allows life to be elicited from even the darkest places.
So guys, so far, I have raised $1630.00 towards my trip in January through donations! ๐ I myself have also saved about $4000 to go towards my trip as well! So, I have already reached my first goal, and am now working towards my second goal of $10,000 by December! Woop woop!! That means I still need $4370.00 to reach my December goal! ๐ (we’re getting there!)
I would first like to thank all of you who have donated, and who have partnered with me. I am so incredibly thankful for this journey, and for the beautiful people that I have met, and encountered along the way. If you are at all interested in helping me to make it to the World Race in January by partnering with me financially, or for simply praying for me, anything at all makes the difference! If you would like to donate, please just click on the upper right hand button that says “donate”, and you can donate by card or by mailing a check to Adventures in Missions. (please give me a text or a call also if you would like to).
Thanks so much guys! Love you all! ๐
