Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Cambodia. These are the countries I’ve been in over the last 4 months. My journey has since taken me to the Fang District, Thailand.
Within 24 hours of arriving at our ministry for the month we were shown to a little house that is where we will be living (we are the second team to be staying there), Unpacked and set up our mats/beds in the two rooms upstairs, we met the director and were invited to his office for “fresh coffee” the next morning, have two adventure days that they have planned for us to show their appreciation for us being here, and were given a schedule for our English classes for the next month.
This month we are working at Fangchanupathum school in Fang, a government school about 3 hours outside of Chaing Mia city. We have been paired with the English teachers, for several periods throughout the day, where we help them by having conversational classes, answering questions and just giving the students an opportunity to speak with a native speaker. I am now called “Teacha”, it’s going to be an adventure!
When we are not in classes we hang out in the teachers lounge where we read, work on blogs, journal and swap stories from our last class. There are some pretty funny scenarios already, and we haven’t even been here a week. It’s like Tiffany said “every team has their own experiences, we’re on the same team and OUR experiences are all different.”
For example my class this morning… I went with the teacher and she introduced me to the class then she turned to me and said “is it alright if I leave you to do the class, I have to go get my teacher picture taken?” What am I supposed to say but “sure”. Do I have a choice? Next thing I know I’m reading from a paper of possible phrases for doing a presentation in English. The class reads it back to me and then… I ran out of subject material. I managed to get through the entire 50 minutes.
Also within the first 24 hours we were given the opportunity to run in a 10K, coming up on the 25th. If you know me you know I hate running, but who could turn that down?
It is a Buddhist school but we are allowed to talk about Jesus outside of the classroom. Please pray that we would have opportunities to share about Jesus to these students.
I also would like to thank each and everyone of you who have supported me financially. I could not do this without you! I am now FULLY FUNDED!!!
