As I anticipated, internet was a scarce and limited resource in Africa. So I do apologize for my lack of updates. The month of January I’ve spent in Mbabane, Swaziland. This country is a hidden treasure, I’ve never seen such beautiful landscape. Our contact called it a mini Switzerland with its rolling mountains and greenery. Though on the outside Swaziland is a marvelous place, the country as a whole is a desperate one.

Our contact shared with my team that 76% of babies born in Swaziland die within the first year because of AIDS. Men in this country have multiple wives without question or concern. It is estimated that by 2050, the country of Swaziland may no longer exist. These facts and statics broke my heart and I fell more in love with the people of this land.

We are working at El Shaddai Ministry which is an orphanage with about 40 children ranging from 6 months to 15 years old. The kids are always looking for attention and love from us racers and we are happy to give it to them. Along with looking after the children, we are also working on painting classrooms, fencing the ministry grounds and preparing chapel for the kids. This looks to be one of my favorite months yet.
