It’s been too long since I’ve updated my blog and much has happened in between. Our teams were changed at the end of our time in South Africa so I am now a part of Team Amaranthine! It has been fun getting to know my new teammates and working together in ministry.
After a 32 hour bus ride, we arrived in Maputo, Mozambique in early December. I definitely feel like I am in Africa this month. We walk on dirt roads where chickens and goats roam freely. Children play in the dirt barefoot and women carry large baskets and bags on their heads. People here run on their own time, and live a very slow paced, carefree life during this holiday season. It’s basically what I had always imagined Africa would be like.
Our ministry this month is working with Pastor Felito and his wife Ana with their ministry Africa on Fire. We help at outreaches in the community where people dance, hear the gospel and get prayed for. We also walk through the neighborhood stopping at people’s houses to pray for them. I am so grateful to see and experience this country and this people group.
If you know me and my family, than you know that it is hard for me to be away from them this time of year. But my Christmas in Africa was one that I will always remember. We spent the day with our contact’s family feasting on chicken, rice, potatoes and cake. And of course no Mozambiquan get together would be complete without a dance party.

My team plans to make puppy chow and play games to bring in the new year. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas as well and enjoy bringing in 2012!
