Praise Jesus, I SURVIVED TRAINING CAMP!!!
I slept some nights with all of my gear, in a community tent for ten people, slept underneath a tarp and even in a mock-airport. I hiked three miles with my pack, showered with a bucket, chilled with a frog that found its way in between my tent and my rain fly, and ate things like lentils and collared greens with my fingers.
I made new friends who are quickly becoming family…I did life for the last ten days with 5 guys and 35 other gals who make up my incredibly amazing squad, I-Squad. I bonded with my beautiful team, GALILEE, which is made up of myself and six other women. I will get to travel to 11 countries with them starting with Serbia in August. I met my team leaders, Justin and Crystal; my mentor, Erika; and my awesome coaches, Matt & Kathy 🙂
We ate together, exercised together, worshiped together, prayed together, said YES to God and to His calling for our lives together and even won squad wars together.
I was pushed way outside of my comfort zone on many occasions. I experienced a heart change that I cannot even begin to explain in words. I was tired and sweaty and i loved it. I was moved to tears more than once, some were happy and some were hard. I learned that this trip is not about ME. I learned how it won’t be the journey of a lifetime, but rather it will be a small part in a lifetime full of journeys. God used this week to break me down and teach me how I cannot give to others what I do not have. I learned what it looks like to love my self and to forgive. I got a reality check and I felt very convicted, but I let go and I let God. I said yes to a year of discomfort and vulnerability so that I can learn to truly be dependent on my Father in heaven who I know will provide.
