What does it mean to know someone, to really know someone? I can know who you are but not know you. I could have met you once but not really know you. I could know specific details about your life but that doesn’t mean I know you. To know someone means to have a relationship with them. It means that if I know you I spend time with you, and I talk to you and you talk to me. To know about someone and to know them are two different things.
My question to you is this, Do you know Jesus? You may know that he was born in a manger, and you may know that he was homeless, you may know that he was a carpenter, you may know that was betrayed by his friends, you may know that he was brutally beaten, and you may even know that he died on the cross for you, but do you know Him?
Jesus doesn’t want to be just someone you know about He wants to be someone you know and He wants to know you. More than anything He wants to have a relationship with you. He wants you to talk with Him and He has things that He wants to tell you as well.
It’s not about a bunch of rules, do’s and don’ts. BUT it is about a relationship.
Matt. 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons, and in your name perform many miracles? And then I will declare to them, ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.”
You may cast out demons, and you may heal the sick, and you may do many miracles in His name, but that doesn’t mean you know Him.
Ultimately God loves us, He says He has loved us with an everlasting love. But God is holy and perfect and so he cannot be in communion with us because of our sin. But God because of his great love for us, made a way for us. That way is Jesus. He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life.
Our sin created a gap between us and God and Jesus filled that gap. You can’t fill that gap on your own. And let me tell you, it’s not about being a good person. Nowhere in the bible does it say, ‘well if you really try to be a good person than that will be good enough for God’. You need Jesus. He came so that you may have life, and have it abundantly.
The God who created the Universe wants to know you and wants you to know Him. Get to know Him and it will change your life for good and forever.
Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd, and I know my own and My own know me, even as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep. ” And, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:14-15, John 10:27-28
You are loved.
