To give some perspective of how far in the jungle we were, we got off our bus to then get in a pick-up truck to travel about 20 minutes into the DEEP jungle of Costa Rica.
Arriving at our new home for the week and walking into our rooms to find bats dive bombing our heads. It was a TRIP! I love adventures so I was straight THRIVING!
Coming into this week everyone had very low expectations mostly because 10 of us had gone to Masatepe where we had such missed expectations and we learned a lot from that trip.
The only expectations we had were tents.
In fact, the day before we headed out for our trip, the OM Staff (the Organization we worked with) came and did orientation for us. The presentation really helped us going into this week with very low expectations of what our living situation would be like. We honestly thought we were going into what our expectations were at the beginning of race. The tent life!
To be honest, it was wayyy nicer than I thought it would be. We stayed on the OM property where we lived in our house, then there was the church and the pastors house. In our house, we had a kitchen, dining area, showers, beds and mosquito nets! It was such a great space for us where we could congregate as a church before heading out to create church wherever we went. I really appreciated the space we were given.
A quick synopsis of our week:
Tuesday / traveled 8 hours to the Caribbean Coast from San Jose. Arrived around 2pm. Rested. Church service until 9pm. (Check our my blog, “What Church Looks Like in Talamanca, Limon, Costa Rica” to read more into what the church service was like!)
Wednesday / devotional at 7 am. Worship. Breakfast. Our first house visit!!! Home. Made lunch. Soccer game with the locals… they crushed us but it was so much fun! Played games and shared a message with all of them. Home for dinner. Ended the day with worship.

‘‘Twas good!
Talamanca was a break from our regular pace. It was like a short term missions trip within our nine month missions trip. A smaller group of 24 instead of our usual 43. It was such a cool experience, go read my other blogs to give a better and deeper look into some of the days. This is an overview to help those to understand where we were and what we did.
Thank you for reading!
God bless you!
