Leaving Battambang felt so weird, I wasn’t ready to leave that place and the relationships I had made. It’s crazy how long the days feel but how fast the weeks go. It was a phenomenal first month and I am so thankful for all the ways God grew me closer to him and to my teammates. My last day of ministry was hard, I was a lot sadder than I thought I would be to leave all of these people behind. God quickly reminded me that even though my personal work in Battambang was done, his was not. Even though I will be in Siem Reap for the next two months, 3 of our teams will be staying in Battambang continuing the work we had been doing. There will be others for years to come which is an encouragement; plus to think of all the people just from World Race who went to those exact ministries from past years.
The hardest person to leave was Rachel, a young woman we worked with at the hospital. I was finally having amazing conversations with her and getting to know her story and her sorrows. She was able to translate for us at the hospital so we could get to know the other Khmer ladies at the hospital. I’m excited to see how my other squad mates will pour into her and her life in the next 2 months.
Here is a glimpse into my month from my amazing teammate, Gracie Cotrill;
