Hi there! Welcome to the my little personal piece of internet that I get to fill with my thoughts (now that’s a scary concept!) I guess the only logical place to start when describing yourself is the beginning so… There was a full moon hanging in the sky when I came into the world on January 21, 1992. Kidding 🙂

The Basics (and a little extra)

  • My name is Margot, and I am almost 22 years young. I am from a small town called Zachary, Louisiana.
  • I am blessed with so many genuine friends that when I made Christmas presents this year, I started labeling them to pass out and realized I didn’t have enough.
  • I have attended St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church my entire life, the same small, country church my dad has attended since he was a child. My church family is my second family
  • After God, my family is the most important aspect of my life. My mom and dad, Sheryl and Chip, are the greatest motivation behind me signing up for the World Race (see why below in the section “How I found myself sitting down in front of my parents explaining to them that I was leaving them for a year on a mission trip around the world…”). While they aren’t so little anymore, I have to younger brothers: Mac is 19 and Turtle is 17.

  • You can not truly know me without knowing my obsession with my French Bulldog, Pig. I usually find a way to talk about him in any conversation and will show anyone I can harass for a moment a minimum of 5 pictures of him before they run away. He is my favorite “person” in the world, and he is actually the hardest thing for me to leave behind (my loved ones expect nothing less and are rolling their eyes at this).

  • My favorite things: loving on people; spontaneity; red velvet cake, sushi, gelato (ok…let’s just say FOOD); most types of music except anything that just sounds like an angry person screaming (i.e. rap and screamo/hard rock); reading, preferably with Pig in my lap; splurging on candles from Anthropologie; anything crafty/DIY; cheap fun… like board games or rollerblading; pretending I like to run; hot weather and sunshine; refurbishing furniture; dirty martinis; any sort of holidays (esp. birthdays)
  • Dislikes: negativity; planning anything; quinoa, wheat pasta, licorice, and kale chips; organic chemistry; scary movies; cold weather; ESPN; trying on pants/shorts; controversy

So apparently, I don’t think at all! Haha. I am perpetually optimistic, constantly happy, and I’m hardly ever serious. I’ll often spend time watching stand-up comedy just to brighten my day (love me some Ellen Degeneres). I can be forgetful, but I mostly attribute that to my ADD.  I am a dash of sarcasm mixed with a heap of dysfunction. My best friend, Allie, says that God places me in unfortunate scenarios because he knows I’ll handle it with humor and a good attitude. My main goal for my life is to inspire people to pursue a relationship with Christ because they see a reflection of God’s love in how I live my life.

Finally, you’ve reached the end! Almost…

How I found myself sitting down in front of my parents explaining to them that I was leaving them for a year on a mission trip around the world…

I was a senior biology major at Louisiana State University, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. I started college with the intention of going to medical school, but with each passing year I have become less and less certain that being a doctor is the path God has planned out for me. As soon as I discovered the World Race, I heard God calling me with an unexplainable certainty I have never felt before. When God tells you his plan for you so clearly, you don’t stop to ask questions: you sprint full-speed ahead with a happy heart! I will be a member of the September 2014, K Squad on the  World Race.
