Month 2, feb 6, 2014-Guatemala ministry bus ride

Debrief in Antigua was such a blessing and exactly what I needed spiritually, mentally and emotionally. A lot of us broke free from some things that were holding us back from our pasts, myself included. As the day we were leaving Antigua we all packed into a chicken bus (a school bus) and drove up the mountains.

I was caught up into a conversation with my bus buddy and the next thing I realize we were going too fast around a turn and couldn’t make the turn so our bus driver made the best choice he could and kept going straight only problem is there was a cliff. He slammed on the brakes and we were a few feet from the cliff.  Smoke came from our bus and I thought we blew a tire but we slammed on the brakes so hard it was just brake smoke. Our team started to pray immediately and people felt the hand of God on the front of our bus and angels all around us. I personally needed to focus on The Lord because As we continued our journey up the mountain our engine didn’t have enough momentum and cut off and cars were behind us as we started to roll backwards. I just freaked out. I started feeling complete fear grip me. Then I had a panic attack. I haven’t had a panic attack in 2 1/2 years and it was not fun. The devil was really trying to discourage me. He obviously did not want us to make it to our next location. For parents sake we are all well and alive! We are missionaries and the devil will do what he can but there is nothing to be afraid of because our God is much bigger. The Lord doesn’t want us to let fear control our thoughts, emotions and even our spirits. I need to focus and not let it control me personally. Through the midst of all this The Lord revealed to me how important it is in the very instant how fear can overcome our thoughts and cause us to freak out or have anxiety. The Lord wants us well. Focus, that’s all he asks.

This month We are working with children, building chairs for disabled people and going out and giving them away, we are doing some manual labor work in fields and also working with the hospital doing medical missions.  Keep my squad in your prayers as we will definitely need it this month.
