Are you friends with the Holy Spirit? I want to challenge you to ask yourself that question because when I did, I was righteously offended.

When I think about the Holy Spirit, I usually do not think of Him as a friend but more of a distant cousin. A distant relative who I rarely talk to or even acknowledge. Before the race, I did not have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. I had an intimate relationship with the Father, and with Jesus, but not the Holy Spirit. God convicted me that I have neglected the importance of the Holy Spirit and I repent for that.

Growing up in church, I had a foundation of faith at a very young age. I grew up knowing who God was and who Jesus was, but not the Holy Spirit. In Sunday school I can remember learning about the fruits and the gifts of the Spirit, but nothing else was taught about it. I grew up having little knowledge of who the Holy Spirit really was.

Throughout my life, the Holy Spirit has been something rarely mentioned in the church. Even in college, the necessity of relying on the Spirit was a concept never taught to me.

But now the Holy Spirit is my new best friend! He has become my comforter, counselor, helper, teacher, and so much more. He has been there all along but my vision was clouded. I was unaware of His presence in my life.

I want to pose a question: When is the last time you truly acknowledged the Holy Spirit? When is the last time you spoke imtiately with Him? When's the last time you thanked the Holy Spirit for the work He's done in and through you?

My prayer for us, a people chosen by God, is that we would desire an intimacy with the Holy Spirit. That we would live in the fullness of the Holy Ghost and His power. I challenge you to just get away and spend time with the Holy Spirit. I guarantee you, He will move and speak to you if you are seeking Him.

I used to live life as if the Holy Spirit was dead,
but now I know He is fully alive
