Life is Nicaragua is LEGIT! It has been amazing to experience a completely different way of life here. Everything here is completely different than America. Just so you get a feel of what it's like in Nicaragua, here's some of my experiences thus far:
This month we have our own little house we are staying in and we have many friends at our house. We have a pig that we named piggly wiggly, 2 toads named jack and jill, 3 lizards that visit often named Jim, Jam, and Jolly, chickens that sleep in a tree (odd I know!), Pablo the toad who hopped into our house uninvited one night and scared us pretty bad, Rico the boa constrictor found on our street, and many others. I wake up at 5 am to the sound of roosters. The food here is REALLY good and our meals usually consist of rice, beans, various meats, and the best part which is tortillas. Our shower time I like to call "bucketing" since we don't have running water we take showers our of buckets.
Our ministry varies each day which includes teaching English at schools, preaching at church, leading worship, praying for people, and many other things. I like to call our team the preaching team as we have been asked to preach often here. Preaching is something that is still new to me but I absolutely love it. God is always speaking and teaching me something and I am blessed to have the opportunity to share that with others. The people here actually want to hear what we gringos (aka white people) have to say. While I was preaching, one older man was actually taking notes during my sermon! I felt so honored that a man his age would humble himself and have open ears to hear what God had put on my heart to say.
What I love most about this country is the fact that church here is so different. The youth is so involved in church. Young people lead the worship on Sundays (which is something that you rarely experience in America) and there are not two services separating the youth from the adults. Services include everyone and children get to use the gifts God has given them at church.
Experiencing church in Nicaragua has been so refreshing. The people here are desperate for the Lord and they are not a people of lukewarm faith. When they pray, they get on their knees and talk to their Father. They don't need an altar call in order to fall to their knees in worship but instead they live that out daily. When I interact with the people here, it is as if I can literally feel the love of Christ radiate off of them. I am greatly encouraged by their faith and their constant pursuit of the Father.
Nicaragua is truly a beautiful country and I cannot wait to see what is to come here. In order to stay on the World Race for the full 11 months, I still have $4,200 to raise and so I just want to ask for your support both prayerfully and financially. I have complete faith that I will be fully funded so I just want to ask if you would pray about giving today.
If you read this and the Lord is leading you to give, you can click on the "Support Me" link on the left hand side of this page and follow the instructions. Any amount of donation helps so I want to thank you all in advance for your prayers and support.
In Christ's love!
