Quick note to my faithful and blessed supporters: several of my teammates are yet to be fully funded. Please prayerfully consider contributing to one or all of their campaigns so that they continue on this journey with me!

Having completed two full weeks of ministry, it’s about time I let y’all know what the heck our ministry actually is. It has been an incredible experience so far. We’ve been challenged and stretched, but still have some of the comforts of home (beds and showers whaaaa?!) to ease us into the World Race.

This month, Team Kintsugi and Team Mamasitas have been working with the wonderful beans at the YWAM base in Potrerillo, Chiriqui, Panama. YWAM (Youth With a Mission) here provides for their community in many ways, and we’re so fortunate to be able to help with most of them.

So check it out – this is what a typical week of ministry is like with YWAM in Chiriqui.

Monday: Everyone on base gathers together for a time of worship and sharing what God is doing in our hearts, then we head out to do projects at one of the schools in Rovira. This week, 3 of us organized the storage room in the back of the school. It was every arachnophobic custodian’s nightmare. In the afternoon, we plan programs, classes, and bible study for the rest of the week. In the evening, we rotate leading bible study with the Hogar students. (Hogar is Spanish for ‘home’; this is the students’ home while they go to high school.)

Tuesday: Tuesday morning, we spend some time preparing for bible distribution, and then hit the streets, map in hand. YWAM wants to see a bible in every household in the world by 2030. Isn’t that awesome???? In the afternoon, we do a Sunday School-esque program at an orphanage, after-school program, or an actual school.

Wednesday: The day begins with a time of intercession. We spend about an hour asking God what’s on His heart, then praying all together for His people. Y’all, it is so amazing to see how God moves when we ask Him what His desires are. Dang. Then, we head out to bring joy to folks. So far, we’ve done that by going to a nursing home, doing silly skits and singing; we also handed out some New Testaments in David (about 30 minutes from Potrerillo). In the afternoon, we teach specialty classes to some of the Hogar students. So far I’ve taught class piano and yoga – next week is dance!

Thursday and Friday: These days are typically set apart for projects around the base, which means manual labor and deep cleaning. It’s intense, but it feels so good to know that the work we’re doing here is providing a safe and clean place for ministry. Also, there’s nothing to remind me of home like landscaping. 🙂 Thursday nights always include an inductive bible study and corporate worship; Fridays are capped with Bible study and hanging out.

Saturday: Every other Saturday, we lead a VBS style program for the kids in Rovira for a couple of hours in the morning. It’s been so great to see these kiddos multiple times, to start getting to know them and their families, and bring the love of Jesus to them.

So that’s a typical week in the life this month! It has been so great to minister in new ways (Bible distribution and study) and old (class piano and weeding). The Lord has been writing the most wonderful story here; we have been so blessed to be a part of it.

I also want to thank YOU, my faithful supporters and readers. Your prayer offerings and financial offerings are the reason that I get to live this out – that WE get to live out God’s story. Please continue to pray for me and my team, and if you are led to do so, contribute to my teammates’ financial goals. Any and every gift is appreciated!!
