When you’re on the World Race you learn to expect the unexpected. Nothing ever happens like you think it will. Change happens frequently which is obvious when you move countries as often as we do, but scenery isn’t the only thing that changes out here on the field. People change, perspectives change, hearts change, (facial) hair changes and teams change. We experienced our first round of team changes during debrief in Riga, Latvia.

(The Evolution of Team Zoa)

It’s hard to let go of an old team. I’ve spent the past four months living with six incredible people that helped shape me into who I am now. It feels like we grew up together. We learned how to do this race together. We lived through the craziness of Africa together. Team Zoa will always be my family! I love this crazy bunch of goofballs. I’m excited to see them at the end of each month and see how they’ve grown. Sometimes it’s easier to see growth when you’re not around each other 24/7.

It’s bittersweet, but with new teams comes new challenges and perspectives. New teams offer new ways to grow. God is definitely calling me up out of my comfort zone in this new season. At the end of my last blog, I wrote:

“I’ve put myself in a lot of boxes that I don’t belong in and was never intended to be in. God is showing me those boxes and helping me break out of them. Every day I have to make the choice to say yes to being stretched and made uncomfortable. I have to make the choice to say yes to doing the things I don’t feel capable of doing. It’s hard, but I’m saying yes to becoming the woman God is calling me to be.”

I also wrote about my former team calling out the leadership qualities I didn’t see in myself. Which is funny, because now I’ve been called up to be a Team Leader. Yayyy discomfort zone! This is definitely going to be a brand new season of stepping up into the woman that God’s calling me to be in serving my team and loving them well. I’m excited! Fortunately my new team is extremely easy to love and completely ready to dive in head first to this new season! I already love doing life with them! We are currently serving in Liepaja, Latvia.

Meet my new team: Team Relentless!

Team Zoa ended on a really great note and Team Relentless is running with the momentum of the past 4 months. Check out the final video of Team Zoa in Lithuania, Month 4:
