After 37 hours of travel, we have been in Mokhotlong, Lesotho for 2 whole days! My team, along with two others, is living on the mountain side with a stunning view when looking out any window in our house. In the morning we are greeted with the cool, thin air and the three playful dogs that live with us. My friends and I, all 19 of us, eat our meals together laughing, asking silly questions, like “if you could have any exotic animal as a pet, what would it be?” You know those color changing horses from Wizard of Oz? That’s what mine would be.
These two days have been full of slow-paced moments that I crave and will likely try to recreate after this month.
I couldn’t ask for a better community to do this life with in this season. In the 9-hour van ride to the mountains we now call home, 16 of us smooshed together with our day packs (the less huge one) at our feet and marveled at the views. We watched the sky change from the type of blue, fluffy white clouds that imitate a painting, to a fire red, peachy sunset. We looked up at the stars over us while lighting sporadically lit up the sky.
Every time I enter a new place like this, a place so emerged in God’s untouched nature, I have an overflow of joy that leaves me wanting to write romantic blogs about sunsets, hug my friends tightly and frolic through the hill side like Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music.
It has been such a beautiful thing to see God SO clearly right outside my front door. The hills speak of His work and proclaim Lesotho as His own. They tower over the country shouting his glory.
O Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Psalm 8:3 “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?”
Psalm 19: 1 “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”
Thanks for reading along! I hope you all enjoy getting to see more of my character while I learn about the character of our Father! Week one of this month has been so life giving. Stay tuned folks because ish is about to go down.
p.s- wifi is very very limited and we are only using it for our blogs. Please still comment if you’d like, I will just have to see it a little later 🙂
p.p.s- LOVE YOU MoM, DAd, EMmA, ROcCo, ERoN, PAtTi, GRaMmy, AuNt KaTiE and KaTe <3
