Setting here i could very easily make a list of all the 99 comforts of home i am missing right now. And that’s if i’m only generalizing the endless list of specifics like family friends and food.
But by setting here focusing on only the comforts behind, im not focusing on all the blessings God has put right in front of me, like the amazing people around me now and those around me who desperately need to know and feel the love of Jesus. Instead the focus is on me and me alone.
In the Bible Jesus is referred to as the good shepherd who would leave the 99 just to find the 1 lost sheep and bring it home to Him. Why is this? Isn’t 99 enough? how much value can just 1 sheep have when you already have 99 guarantees? Pulse is it rely worth leaving whats comfortable just for 1 lost sheep? Well for Jesus the answer couldn’t be a bigger YES!
To Him that one lost sheep is us and to Him we are more valuable then anything else in the world! More then the safety of His Heavenly comfort zone and more valuable to Him then His own life! He gave up everything to come for us and bring us home with him and if we are called to live like Jesus and be His hands and feet what does that mean for us?
It means that we should be putting more value on going after the one lost sheep then keeping in our own comfort zone. And that we should see the journey to bring them home to Him as more important then the fear of being out of the safety zone. And for me it means stop focusing on the list of 99 things I am missing right now to focus on how I can let God use me.
By leaving my ongoing list of the 99 comforts behind and focusing on those around me i am opening myself up to truly becoming the hands and feet of Jesus. And even if that means i left everything behind to touch only one person this year it would all be worth it because to Jesus that one person means the world to Him and is totally worth leaving behind my world of comfort!
Leaving behind our list of 99 reasons why we cant go out and serve God is never easy but its always worth it! So I encourage you to ask God what is your list, whats holding you back from being used as His hands and feet. Maybe its Fear, your comfort zone or whatever ask Him to show you and help you to leave it behind to be a part of bring his lost children home to Him!
