I saw a video today from Steve Furtick on not forgetting where you come from and the sacrifices those around you have made for you to be where you are. And it mad me think of my dad. And my first thought was to save it and it would make a nice father's day face book post. You know be able to tell him I'm thankful for all he's done in my life, but how stupid that we think we need to wait for the calendar to tell us when to express thankfulness! Forget that!!
You see I grew up with a very rare blessing that not many people these days get to say they had! I grew up with a Father who loves me, made sacrifices for me, who did without countless times so I wouldn't have to, who told me he's proud to be my dad even on days I feel like a screw up, gave me courage to fallow my dreams and made it a point to tell me everyday that he loves me!
And not because that's how his dad was but because he relied on our perfect heavenly Father to teach him what love really is and to show him how to love.
This love has allowed me an advantage in my faith you see, because of his example to love and sacrifice for his kids I have been able to see God as the good Father He is and has graced me to not have to overcome many of the obstacles that he and so many of those around me have hade to walk through. I can easily receive God's love as father because my earthly father never once withheld his love from me!
And over the years I've had the joy of seeing him extend that love to my friends, church, those around me and even those in the youth group by being the hands, feet and even heart of Jesus!
Now I'm not saying he was or is perfect, but non of us are! But looking back over the last 25 years of my life I can honestly say I don't know how him or my mom could have possibly loved me or my brothers more!
Thank you Jesus for blessing me with 2 parents who love you above all else and who's life passion and goal is to extend Your love to everyone the meet!
