I do have Mirrors…. & Mirrors …. & More Mirrors on my wall! It go back to the time when my roommate and I first moved into our apartment almost 3 years ago… I had this idea of having a mirror wall in our dining area to reflect the light coming in from our window, to help light up the dark areas of the apartment. This illustration reminds me of a verse in the Bible from
John 1:5:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Not to mention, it creates an awesome looking wall and a sneak peak when playing cards (that came about unintentionally)!
So my roommate and I have searched and collected multiple mirrors from everywhere including auctions, garage sales, the dollar store, from friends, and even the side of the street…
So why Mirrors?
They reflect the light and light has been something that I have been fascinated with… There are so many times in the Bible when Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit are described as the light!
John 8:12
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Also, the Bible talks about how we as Christians are to “Be the Light”, to be like Christ and let his love shine through us!
Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
“In the Same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
1 Peter 2:9 English Standard Version (ESV)
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
“This little light of mine…I’m gonna let it shine…”
1 John 1:5-9 English Standard Version (ESV)
Walking in the Light
“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
So I go back to the mirrors… each of them different… just as each of us are different… each of them shines the light that was given to them to shine.
Reflect and shine your light…
