Every blog comes to me at the most random of times and I all of a sudden have this burst of things to say.
So, I’m not sure if this is a poem. Or a blog. Or just a random burst of words. But read it. It’s good.
These pictures of these kids are beautiful.
These pictures look full of joy.
And most all of them are.
Our team looks happy.
We are.
I look so happy, I look so full of joy.
And I am.
We’re all so happy to be here.
And that’s true.
We wake up in the morning and we all do different ministries.
Whether its feeding hungry children and loving on them,
or visiting a prison and listening to women sing,
or doing bible studies with women and hearing what they’ve been through,
or doing bible classes with children.
Whew.
And that’s just some of our morning ministries we do everyday!
Who wouldn’t be full of joy all of the time when your everyday life looks like that?
Like seriously!!
Wow what a beautiful calling.
But you see,
There are humans behind those photos,
with people that miss them,
And they miss people too.
They may be surrounded by children and constant ministry,
But yes some days,
We still feel alone.
We miss home sometimes.
Some days we cry.
Some days we cry tears of joy and others, not so much.
Some days are days of beaming joy.
And other days,
We feel like we can’t connect with some of the kids.
We get nervous.
We get sad.
We doubt ourselves.
We don’t feel qualified.
We feel like giving up.
There is real, deep love behind those photos you see.
And there truly is so much joy.
But some days,
Some days are hard.
Some days we aren’t beaming with joy.
And that is okay.
Because even when we do feel alone,
We aren’t.
We’re having a three month slumber party with fifteen girls.
And we still choose to be here, in this place,
through the hard days and easy ones.
Because God called us for this.
And on the days we don’t feel equipped,
that’s okay.
Because He doesn’t call the equipped,
He equips the called.
And when we feel like we’re just laughing with a bunch of children,
We’re really brining Kingdom to this place.
We’re making a difference.
And they make an even bigger difference in our lives.
And it is a beautiful thing.
Even though we shed some tears after a long, hard day,
We rise in the morning and Go.
Because that’s what we do.
We Go.
Even when we don’t feel like it.
And we’ll keep going,
until He brings us home.
We’ll keep laughing and feeding and playing with those children.
We’ll keep praying over men and women on the streets,
We’ll keep singing with people in the prisons,
We’ll continue to serve.
Because that’s our calling.
That’s what we do.
And that’s what you’re called to do too.
So do just that.
