A lot of family and friends have just recently been hearing about this new adventure God has called me on and some wondered ‘where did this come from?’
See, God has been preparing my heart for this mission for the past three years. I first heard about the World Race from a family friend and while it intrigued me, I never looked into it because I thought, “I’m not the mission trip type.” Shortly after hearing about it, I saw that a girl I knew was going on it and I saw how amazing her life was and how God was really working in her. So then, it’s about time for me to graduate from UGA and I started thinking about this mission trip again. Maybe I’ll go? Maybe it’s time now?
But, instead, I set out with the intentions to travel the world by myself for a year and a half, on my own terms. While abroad, I had a wonderful time and met so many amazing people that really touched my life, but I felt like something was missing. All the things I thought I was going to be doing to help in these places just never happened, one failed effort after another. So I started to feel very defeated and purposeless. Then, I was on Facebook and saw another acquaintance was going to be going on the World Race. I thought to myself, “I’ve been thinking about this for awhile but never actually checked it out.” So I moseyed on over to the website and started reading and watching videos. That’s when it happened.
God showed me what He wanted for me and I was overcome with emotion. See, little did I know that God had actually let me go my own way so that I could see that His way was best. I was immediately filled with excitement, joy, nervousness, fear, and ambition. I was already on this once in a lifetime trip, but God fueled more excitement in me for His mission than I could ever have for mine. God is patient and He waited for me to see. He planted a seed three years ago and slowly tended to His garden and watered my soul with His truth.
So, now I’m setting out to do His will, not my own. To help His children wherever they call from and with life giving water and truth to nourish their souls. The World Race will take about 40 short-term missionaries, including myself, to 11 countries in 11 months spanning across Europe, Africa, and South East Asia. We will come to the aid wherever we are called to teach English, help Syrian Refugees, care for orphans, build, create disciples, and with whatever else God needs us for.
I ask you to please join me on this journey. Please pray and minister for me so that we may go on this together in spirit. There are so many ways that you can be a part of this mission that God has called us on. I am forever grateful to those that God has impressed upon to help me financially for I could not do this without you. I look forward to updating you all on this incredible adventure.
God Bless You All
