So, if you didn't know, I can speak a little Spanish. I took 3 years of it in High School but I have long since forgotten most of it. The third year I took it was about 9 years ago.
In Honduras, we had zero translators. So Jenn Dannelley and I were the translators. We would rotate back and forth with who would translate. Since we both are way less than fluent in Spanish, translating is really difficult.
There were many days I didn't want to translate. And one day in particular I was so discouraged thinking my Spanish isn't good enough and I can't speak as much as Jenn. The people we were visiting weren't understanding what I was saying. I was really down.
Then Karen decided to pray for me. She prayed that God would use me to bring the Good News in ways I didn't think I knew how. She prayed that He would give me the words to speak.
So we get to the house of this sweet little old lady and Jay starts speaking to her about Jesus while I translated for him. At the end of all of this she ACCEPTED CHRIST!
AND THEN.. Karen noticed her daughter was standing behind her and was asking her if she heard all that Jay said. She said she did so Karen was asking her what she thought about it. While I was translating this she ALSO ACCEPTED CHRIST!!
God gave me the words to speak and used those words to reach the hearts of these two beautiful women who are now our new sisters in Christ! It was such an amazing thing. It took me days to realize what happened and now I wanted to share that to encourage my readers: Even if you think you are inadequate and your words aren't good enough, THEY ARE! God uses everything for His Glory!
I pray this will inspire you to go share the Good News. God uses people who think they are inadequate. Look at Moses. And now I have been used to share Jesus in a foreign language. You can share Jesus with anyone.
I will most likely not speak Spanish again on this trip, but I know God will give me the words to say in other countries too.
I still need $1,300 to make the next deadline and stay on this race. I want to go to the rest of the countries. I know I am not finished here. I know God has a lot more in store for me in the next 8 months. Please, if you are able and feel led, support me. And please share my blog 🙂
Love from Honduras!
M
