Hey guys, so my past few blogs have been pretty short. But today, I want to try to tell you a little bit about life here in Costa Rica. Here are some things that sum up my time in Costa Rica so far…
- YOU CANNOT FLUSH YOUR TOILET PAPER!– Anywhere you go here, there is a sign that says “DO NOT FLUSH YOUR TOILET PAPER. And a trash can that you put your used toilet paper in. It worries me a lot…
- THE WEATHER- So the weather here in San Jose is really awesome, during the day its usually about 70-80 degrees and at night its gets around 60-70.That is nice because no one has air conditioning.
- EVERYONE SPEAKS SPANISH– It’s tough to find anything in in the grocery store, or just find out what 12,450 Colones translates to in USD. But thanks to some squad members, that have been very helpful, it has helped ease me into this environment.
- YOU HAVE TO CLEAN THOROUGHLY– If you drop anything on the floor, you will have little critters coming to pick it up. Creatures like Ants, Rats, Mice, Beetles. You’ve gotta be really careful to clean up after yourself.
- MINISTRY HERE IS INTENSE– My first two ministry days have been great, yesterday, we went and help our ministry host move out of her house. But next week, we will be hosting a camp for around 200 kids and getting to do it on the beach! It sounds so easy but I know how overwhelming things can get with that many kids to manage. I am super nervous, tomorrow, me and my team are going to be heading to a women’s prison, we will be playing games and getting to develope relationships with the ladies there. Please pray for me that I will be able to show someone what Jesus is like, and later minister about Jesus to them! My friend Madison went and served a community of prostitutes late last night with her team, and from what I hear, it was such an interesting experience to have. I will link her blog here so check for that blog from her soon! Madisontaylor.theworldrace.org
- YOU NEVER GET TO BE ALONE!– Due to safety concerns, the only “alone time” you get is if you can find an open spot in the house somewhere. The other day, we had a man (we think he was on drugs) come up to our gate and say some crude things to us in Spanish. Good thing our friend Tati was there to handle the situation. We actually live in a very safe neighborhood, but the occasional person comes up and stirs stuff up. no problem, please don’t worry, Z squad is safe and well!
OKAY YALL! glad you tuned in and read this! love yall and I will talk again soon!
