Costa Rica- Costa Rica attracts millions of tourists each year, the beautiful landscapes have made Costa Rica’s Economy mostly based on tourism. In Costa Rica 1.1 million people live in poverty, that’s 1/4 of the population. The poverty gets worse as you leave the metropolitan areas. Another big concern is that poverty has not reduced for over two decades.

Cambodia- Cambodia’s youth is particularly exposed to vulnerabilities mainly concerning mental and physical weaknesses, abuse and poverty. 36% of Cambodia’s youth live below the poverty line. The youth are exposed to health issues, lack of personal hygiene materials and basic needs, and sexual exploitation. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development reports “the young population is estimated to experience more violence and abuse than any other age group, especially in terms of domestic and gender-based violence”.

Swaziland– Life expectancy for the people of Swaziland has drop by ten years since 1990. In 2013, Swaziland had the highest percentage of HIV/AIDS in the world. The Borgen Project informs “Drought has been a major factor in restricting growth and contributing to poverty in Swaziland. According to All Africa, a drought last year was partially responsible for a 31 percent decline in maize production in 2015 and left 300,000 people (one-quarter of the population) targeted for aids”. The Swaziland Government has come up with a plan to reduce poverty, theirs goals consist of providing households with access to clean water and giving women the same rights that men have.
