I live in the city, and as a result I get asked for money a lot. Now I don't always give money, I don't always have money, and usually I get asked outside of a bar so that wouldn't be smart anyways, but I hardly ever get asked for food so when I did I was a bit thrown off and asked what he was craving. He wisely pointed to the barbecue shop, I mentioned I had a budget and he quickly changed his answer to subway which Im thankful for. We went to the sub shop and got some food and he told me a lot of his story. Parts that made me laugh and parts that made me want to cry.
He told me he was born in 1960 which is the same year as my dad he was the oldest of all his brothers and sisters which is also the same as my dad, but then his story became much different from my dads when he told me about how he lost his mom at 8 years old to his dads shotgun. His dad spent some time in jail and because it was deemed an accident he got out after many years.
He told me about the cancer that he had removed after a scaffolding accident, his schizophrenia and epilepsy, and then about how good jalapenos are on a sub. Typical of most men after saying something deep at all, bring it back to the surface with something not very important.
He continued to tell me about how he got arrested for using a credit card he found, and he laughed when he said it, because it was the last thing he expected to get caught doing. He was growing and selling weed at the time and also involved in a gang and the thing he got caught for was a lost credit card? When you see it like that it is kind of funny I suppose.
I told him some of my story about the one night I spent in jail, he thought that was funny too. Then he started telling me about the time he spent in Jail and how he ended up finding Jesus while he was in Jail, and he showed me a tattoo that he got in Prison, and explained how they did tattoos in there. I told him about my tattoos, which I love doing, and then I prayed for him, shook his hand and left. Will I see him again? No idea. Will I pray for him again? Sure will. Can you guys pray for him too? Cause I think he would like that. His names Terry and he's just a little down on his luck trying to get his life back together and prayer seems like a good place to start. Join me.
