Things I am learning…

– To be creative in the kitchen. Our corporate pantry is comprised of a cup of corn flakes or oatmeal, 8 oz of milk, butter, 4 pieces of bread, two spoonfuls of peanut butter & jelly, one piece of fruit (banana or apple) a day and one egg a day to concoct our individual breakfast and lunch. My new/old favorite thing is French Toast for breakfast (every other day in order to have two eggs) with bananas and peanut butter. It is delicious! Savoring every last bite I think to myself, "who says the life of abandonment is void of perks."

– At 4,000 feet the sun here is just like the sun at home and I need ample amounts of sun screen. Wish I had thought of that last week…

– An embrace still has value even if both my arms and legs fall asleep…and I do too. We watched Jungle Book during a rain storm the other day and don't you know the two kids on my lap, my limbs and I all saw fit to take a cat nap. It was bliss with the exception of the pins and needles of waking up.

– The swing and building blocks are still two of my favorite pass times.

– You can communicate with just your eyebrows. Joseph, one of the boys in the nursery, speaks English but he much prefers to raise or lower his eye brows to respond to your questions. I'm just enamored enough with him to allow him get away with it.

– By some small miracle I can still do a cart wheel and a hand stand — who knew!

– There is a reason the Lord says the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the children (Mark 10:13-16); they are great examples. "I want to go for a walk" In the afternoons we have the choice to take the toddlers out for a one on one, maybe two, walk. Which generally means from the nursery down the drive to the main gate. I welcomed the new perspective the Lord granted me as I reached down for little hands. They didn't care a thing for where I took them. They only longed for the adventure of being out with me. How much Lord do you desire for that to be my response to you!?!
