Before I left for the Race I wondered what this day would look like. Would anyone remember? Would anyone care to act even if they did, remember that is?
Sunday night it rained, hard. There was lots of scurrying to relocate tents and packs due to some flooding. My section of the room held so I assessed if I could be of any help, decided I couldn’t, popped my earplugs in and went to sleep.
When I woke I was sure there were blue waves outside my tent. Blue waves inside, that does not make sense. I rubbed my eyes. Squinted though the mesh of my tent and peered at the floor beside me.
Awh.
I looked up.
Double awh.
And so began a most wonderful birthday on the Race.
No one forgot. No one could forget. My team. My precious team decorated the space around my tent and wrote words of affirmation on all the blue balloons that I mistook for waves in my sleepy state.
I received granola with yogurt and apples for breakfast, yum (Yes, brother, I still delight in eating like a hippy)! My Team arranged for me to receive, "a reason why they are thankful Majil is on the Race" for every year I am celebrating; that’s a lot of reasons to be thankful!
Handmade cards of all shapes and sizes from my Squad mates would show up at my tent everytime I stepped away. And the Squad/Passport filled the Mile High City and mountains with even MORE words of encouragement; my goodness.
We had a picnic lunch with chips, salsa and guac; again, yum! Oh, and OREOs!!
There was a bonfire of a chocolate cake with trick candles for dessert. I almost hyperventilated. And then…
There was a dance party. I got to two step, salsa and cha cha all in one night. It was fabulous.
To bring my heart rate back down, cause the old women needs to rest, they even scheduled in a recovery. Glee viewing as a team before bed!
The Five Love Languages book talks about your “love bucket” getting filled. Mine on this day was filled to overflowing.
Thank you Z Squad and thank you, thank you Ignition Remix y’all are the best!
